New Year for Villa Aurora.

This year at Villa Aurora, we have 30 ACA students. We are at the beginning of a new adventure, a new chapter in the lives of the students as well as another beginning for the school. Each year at Villa Aurora is new because there is always a fresh group of students excited about learning Italian and experiencing all that Italy has to offer. .“It opens our eyes to see that things don’t only work one way,” says ACA student Carolina Garcia.

We have already been on several trips this year including: Cinque Terre, Naples, Pompei, Capri, the Amalfi Coast, Ravenna and Bologna, as well as Pisa and Lucca. “The school trips have given me an opportunity to see things I wouldn’t have had the time or money to visit. It’s great that we study the history and background of these places in class before we go on the trips,” added Meredith Banks.

Living in another culture is an adjustment and a great learning experience. The ACA students are so happy to have staff that really care about them. Subira Brown summed it up when said, “The teachers are like our parents away from home.”

The present Coordinator of the SDALanguages.eu Anna Maria Antonietta Riviello is now part of the Board of Education at the Euroafrican Division.The committe accepted the suggestion of Dr. Barna Magyarosi of having the Consortium represented and since Antonietta is the actual Coordinator for the consortium, she will be the one at the board representing our interests and vision. We hope that this change would develope our mission of teaching foreing languages with a Christian perspective.

This event is further recognition of the Consortium.

Promotion Paris

The Franco-Belgian Union hosted the 5th International AMiCUS

Congress of the Euro-Africa Region in the Espace Charenton Congress Center

in Paris, September 22-24, 2011. The theme of the event was triggered by a

general interest in today’s world of “the end”.

The SDAlanguages.eu was there representing the vision of world where the people could understand and communicate with each other better.

AMiCUS (Adventist Ministry to College and University Students) seeks to meet the spiritual, intellectual, and social needs of Seventh-day Adventist students on secular campuses worldwide. In cooperation with leaders at various church levels, it aims to achieve these goals by strengthening the faith commitment of these students to Seventh-day Adventist beliefs and values, providing opportunities for Christian fellowship, preparing students to deal with the intellectual challenges that arise in a secular environment, developing their leadership abilities, and training them for outreach and witnessing on the campus, in the community, and in the world at large. AMiCUS is a Seventh-day Adventist organization.

The first weekend of September SDAlanguages.eu had a meeting in Valencia (Spain), hosted by ESDES. All the directors of the schools members where there, along with some representative from all around the world, like UNASP from Brazil, Southern Adventist University from the USA and some other organizations.

This entire group of people worked together to find ways of cooperation that would help students and institutions grow and as final result serve God better.

On wednesday 23rd of March, we did the first presentation to students from UNASP Campus II who were interested in language programs in Europe. They showed a great interest in taking language and culture courses in our institutions in Europe.

On March 21st Dr. Eulen Bahia, main provost of the UNASP, received the SDALanguages Europe representatives who gave him a written proposal in order to start the partnership between the UNASP and the SDALanguages Europe consortium. It was a friendly meeting where different issues of international programs were discussed. On Tuesday 15th and on Wednesday 16th the SDA Languages Europe staff visited the Escola Adventista de Tucuruvi and the Univertity UNASP campus I where they presented the European language programs to more than 700 students. They hold a few meetings with different educational directors and representatives of the Brasilian SDA Education System in order to start the partnership process.

Antonietta Riviello, director of Villa Aurora, Juan Antonio López, director of ESDES, Spain and Silvio Nunes, boys dean at Villa Aurora are visiting the big SDA Education network in the area of Sao Paolo to establish new exchange programs with the European Languages Schools. This trip, that started on March 13th, will last until March 30th. Brasilian people have been very friendly and have showed a great sense of hospitality. Pastor Rafael Cabral and Pastor Derson have organised a warm welcome day.

Wedding month at Villa Aurora

We are thrilled to announce ACA Villa Aurora wedding month: June 2010.

Villa Aurora is not just a place to earn a degree or pad your resume, it is a place to make friends and cultivate relationships that will last a lifetime. Some relationships transform into something much, much more as evidenced by the four weddings coming up in June.

Wedding month opens on June 6 with the wedding of one of Villa’s youngest teachers, Erica Mantovani. Erica and her fiancé, Lucas, has tied the knot here at the start of the Florentine summer.

On June 13 it is Brian Gauthier and Tiffany Branum’s turn to exchange vows. Brian and Tiffany did not know each other before arriving at Villa Aurora in 2006 as ACA students. Brian is sensitive and sensible while Tiffany is sweet and timid. Their personalities meshed wonderfully and blossomed into love. We have all enjoyed the privilege of watching them grow together.

June 20 brings the wedding of Ehren Lichtenwalter and Erin Castillo. Ehren was an ACA student during the academic year 2003-2004 and returned in 2007 to be the assistant to the director of the language department. While in Florence, Ehren and Erin, acquaintances from college, got to know each other better. Italy provided a picture-perfect backdrop as the couple eventually fell in love.

Our “wedding month” will conclude on June 27 with the wedding of Erin Gosling and Alin Ciubotaru. Erin was an ACA student in 2008 and decided to come back in 2010 to improve her Italian and continue her relationship with Alin, a theology student. Alin and Erin began a relationship during Erin’s first year here and their relationship will culminate this June with their wedding. Theirs, too, is a beautiful love story.
